Prince Setanta Lodge of M.M.M. No 1446

Thursday the 9th of December was the last meeting of Prince Setanta Lodge of M.M.M. number 1446, for 2021, and after the "lock-down period" wanted to do something a little different to high light the event, as there was to be no ceremony it was decided to invite Ladies and friends to dine with them and to turn this into a special evening by holding an informal Christmas buffet with an extra unique secret, bumper raffle, were all the prizes would be wrapped so no one know what they were winning.
The meeting when well, the a number of guests being asked to "stand in" including yours truly acting as D. C. (that tested my memory!) Among the visitors were the two newest Mark Masters on the Fylde Coast, both less than a fortnight into their terms of Office; Bro. Scott Craig the Master of Fylde Mark and Bro. Roger Stansfield the Master of Imperial Mark, great to see them both visiting so early in their years.

Receiving the salutations to the Grand Officers was W. Bro. Phil Watson, as it was the first time in his Mark Lodge since he received the Acting Grand Rank of Grand Steward and how well he looked wearing his chain of office.

After the Master, Worshipful Bro. Stephen Thackrah had been declared Master Elect for the ensuing year and W. Bro. Peter Walker PProvGJW had been declared Treasurer. all the business was completed, the Lodge was closed, and we made our way down to the bar and dining room to join the Ladies and friends.

While the buffet was being readied the Lodge Secretary W. Bro. Tony Thackrah PProvGJW,  explained where the proceeds from the raffle were going, with a short talk on Blue Skies the charity arm of the very busy Blackpool Victoria Hospital, they are raising funds to provide 1000 new information head boards for over the patients beds, in a colour coded form so patients details were not viewable to all. They cost £23-00 pounds each, plus the magnets.

After the splendid buffet, the raffle took place when no less than £400-00 was taken from the 20 odd Ladies and brethren present, a truly magnificent sum and a great credit to those brethren who had organist this wonderful event, on behalf of what must be the smallest Mark Lodge in West Lancashire. Thus enabling some 18 boards to be purchased which would probable be a whole ward. Everyone went home feeling they had been part of a super evening.
